Scope:

Solid Materials
The boring sampling procedure is applicable for waxes, solid bitumens and other soft solids in barrels, cases, bags, and cakes when they cannot be melted and sampled as liquids.

Semi-Solid Materials
The grease sampling procedure is applicable for lubricating greases, soft waxes or soft bitumens similar to grease in consistency from kettles, drums, cans, tubes.

Liquid Materials
The tube sampling procedure is applicable for sampling liquids of 13.8 kPa (2 psia) RVP or less and semi-liquids in drums, barrels, and cans.

The bottle sampling procedure may be used for sampling liquids of 101 kPa (14.7 psia) RVP or less in tank cars and storage tanks.

The core thief sampling procedure is applicable for emulsified asphalts and other semi-liquids in tank cars and storage tanks.
